Previously known as the Palomar Hotel, Hotel Zelos San Francisco is an upscale and luxurious place to stay. The hotel was voted “One of the Top 15 Hotels in San Francisco” by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards in 2019. The hotel is conveniently located in the bustling SoMa District of San Francisco, close to many attractions in Downtown San Francisco and surrounded by the best shops, restaurants, and nightlife.
The hotel’s restaurant is Dirty Habit, which is located five floors above the surrounding streets. Dine inside or out on the heated outdoor patio with views of the city. This award-winning restaurant and bar offer seasonal cuisine, paired with a creative craft cocktail menu and wine list. The decor was inspired by film-noir and is the perfect setting for an enjoyable dinner. Breakfast is served from Monday to Friday between 7 am and 10 am, while dinner is served from Monday to Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm. The bar is open from 5 pm until the last call.

Google reviewers give the hotel a ranking of 4.3/5 very good from 1,101 reviews, while TripAdvisor users ranked the hotel 4/5 on 1,442 reviews. The consensus is that Hotel Zelos San Francisco has an excellent location, close to Power Street Bart station and the Westfield Mall and convenient for Union Square and all its attractions.
The staff was found to be efficient, pleasant and accommodating. If there were any minor complaints, these were swiftly dealt with. Rooms were said to be spacious and clean as were the bathrooms.
A couple of reviewers found the hotel difficult to find and that there was only a small parking stop to drop luggage off. The hotel reportedly only has valet parking. Another person said that while they found Hotel Zelos San Francisco a great place to stay, while they were there they experienced a strange sound which kept them awake. When they reported it to the reception, they were told the noise was coming from another building and they did waive the resort fee for the guests.
