The NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is open to the public every day except Mondays and the first Thursday of every month opens late.

Mondays are Closed.

Tuesday – Saturday 11 AM – 5 PM

Fridays and Saturdays 2 – 3 PM

Sundays Noon – 5 PM

The NSU Art Museum is closed on New year’s day, July 4, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas eve and Christmas day.

The general admission ticket fee is $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and military personnel.

There is free admission 4-8 pm on the first Thursday of every month with happy hour specials in the museum coffee shop.

There’s also free admission for NSU Art Museum Members, NSU students, faculty and staff members, and children 12 and under.

Good news if you have a Bank of America or a Merrill Lynch credit or debit cards: You get a free admission ticket the first full weekend of the month.

You can get many benefits, so don’t forget to get an NSU art museum membership.

For only $80 you get free, unlimited general admission invitations to members-only opening receptions free admission to museum programming plus 10% discount at the Museum Store & Café.

And for all the students out there, you can get an NSU art museum membership for only $25 showing your student ID.

Located midway between Miami and Palm Beach in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the museum is a five minutes walk from the restaurants, shops and art galleries of Las Olas boulevard.

It’s very easy to get to the NSU art, it doesn’t matter if you are traveling by bus or car, the NSU Museum of Fort Lauderdale is easy to reach following these instructions:

Whether you are traveling by car or bike, and you are coming from I-95, you should take Broward Boulevard exit #27 east to Andrews Avenue.

Take Andrews Avenue south (right) to Las Olas Boulevard, across from Huizenga Plaza, right on the northeast corner of Las Olas Boulevard is located in the NSU art museum of Fort Lauderdale.

But If you’re coming from Fort Lauderdale international airport keep left at the fork to follow signs for US 1 North (Federal Highway) and merge onto A1A N/US 1 N.

Turn left onto SE 24th Street, then take the second right onto S. Andrews Avenue and continue for nearly two miles to Las Olas Boulevard.

Bus System:

Fort Lauderdale’s main Broward Central Terminal, is located 4 blocks from the NSU art museum, the bus system connects passengers to the Museum Monday through Saturday every 15 minutes from 9 am – 6 pm, providing links to Miami-Dade and Palm Beach transit systems.

NSU art museum parking is $1.25 per hour, paid in advance at centralized meters.

Additional metered parking is available on streets near the Museum, as well as at other public and private lots and garages throughout the downtown Fort Lauderdale area.

Handicapped parking is also available at no charge with a valid handicapped placard in specially designated spaces.

This 83,000 square-foot building emphasizes 20th-century art pieces. The NSU Museum of art fort Lauderdale hosts almost 6,200 contemporary art pieces.

It should be noted that among the work of art there are many pieces contributed by more than 125 artists. All of them representing the strong culture of Florida and the Caribbean.

As it happens, a very important collection of ceramic work by Pablo Picasso is exhibited in the NSU art museum. They also host the largest exhibition of Cobra (a European post-World War II avant-garde art movement). Represented by Karel Appel, Pierre Alechinsky, and Asger Jorn, the movement’s leading exponents.

The NSU art museum also hosts North America’s largest collection of paintings by famous American artist William Glackens.
